diy fifties village hall wedding preview << sam + matt >>
There are DIY weddings and then there are mad skills craft-tastic DIY awesomeness extravaganza weddings. This weekend, I got to experience one of the latter. With personal touches throughout, tons of quirky little details, incredible people and an immense sense of fun, Sam and Mat tied the knot at Nottingham Council House and then trundled out to the lovely village of Lockington for an afternoon of fun with thai food and more cake than you can shake a stick at. Mat’s mum made the incredible fifties style wedding dress and lace edged petticoat (which I want with all of my heart – it’s just so pretty). Sam and the best man made the wedding cake. There was a scone station complete with clotted cream and various amazing home made jams. There were wild flowers and candles, fairylights and pompoms, bunting and bows. A fifties band rocked everyone to their core and even the rain didn’t stop us from having a blast all day long. Yep, it was a pretty special wedding this one. But then, Sam is a wedding photographer. She’s seen her fair share of weddings (and more) so she wanted to make sure her and Mat’s day was very much about them, their family and their awesome friends. I am so honoured to have been able to play a small part in it. And I can’t wait to edit the full batch of images. But for now, here are the sneak peeks from the day.
