Travel in the Himalayas << adventure >>

More pics from Nepal, this time in the beautiful Himalayas. I did the famous Annapurna Circuit tea house trek. It took 18 days. I walked over 130km and reached an astonishing height of 5416m on the Thorung La mountain pass. I saw 5 of the world’s 10 highest mountains. I met countless beautiful, friendly locals along the way, sleeping in guest houses run by Gurung women whose husbands are guides and porters on the numerous mountain routes. I encountered herds of yak, mountain goats and ponies. I regularly met pack ponies whose approach was signaled by the gentle clonking of the bells around their necks…a blissful sound quite frankly. I crossed turbulent rivers, picked my way across precarious landslides and marveled at the sights and sounds of the High Himalayas. It was a truly breathtaking experience (literally, the air is really quite thin above 4000m I can tell you). I sincerely hope I get the opportunity to do it again. Take a look…
