spirit of beltane << styled shoot >>

Over the past couple of years I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in a couple of awesome styled shoots orchestrated by Melissa Love (the incredibly talented designer behind my website) and Hannah at The Tea Set. First up was the Jane Austen inspired Wedding shoot. So pretty. I was in my element shooting the gorgeous scenes full of vintage prettiness. Then came the Burlesque shoot where my alter ego BonBon Voyage made an appearance on the other side of the camera for a change. Was a lot of fun, but harder work than I ever could have imagined. Eye opening, in fact. I learned a lot about what I do from placing myself in front of the camera for a change. Anyway…I digress. This blog post isn’t about those shoots. Oh no. It’s about the latest styled shoot from the same stable back in May of this year. An incredible gypsy caravan shoot, inspired by the Spirit of Beltane traditions. It was dreamy, romantic, eclectic and fun. I absolutely loved it. Again the shoot was orchestrated by Melissa and Hannah, with the addition of Liz from Ruby-Roux who took the organisation side of things to another level.

The shoot was split into 3 scenes. I only shot a few details at the styled table but it was super pretty. I loved the spring blooms, the antique silver cutlery and the old crockery. Gorgeous. The next scene, which I shot in the early afternoon, involved even more pretty details in the form of a gypsy caravan! Oh my word. Beautiful inside and out, filled with and surrounded by wonderful trinkets, and occupied by the rather gorgeous Meredith (who has modeled in all of the styled shoots organised by the team and joked when I first arrived at the farm that she almost didn’t recognise me with my clothes on – tee hee). As an added bonus, this part of the day was presented by lead photographer Lisa Devlin who is an absolute blast and someone I always look forward to hanging out with! Look at all the pretty…

This scene completely stole my heart. If you’re a regular to my blog, you’ll know that what I’m most passionate about is human interaction. Tender moments, the love and the laughter. And for this scene, we had a real couple. A couple with amazing chemistry. A gorgeous, elfin couple wearing fabulous clothes. And the light was simply beautiful. I was in heaven. Look!!!

I love getting to hang out with other photographers- some known to me, others new friends. I came away feeling inspired and full of love for my profession. Thanks especially to the wonderful people listed below, without them the shoot would have been nothing but a bunch of togs on a farm, albeit a rather pretty farm in the glorious Sussex countryside.
