Relaxed Holkham Hall Wedding | Hannah + Phil

I could go on an on about this amazing, relaxed Holkham Hall Wedding. I could tell you about the stunning gown Hannah chose and her epic shoes. I could wax lyrical about the gorgeous venue. I could gush about the jewel toned bridesmaid dresses and incredible flowers. But no. I’m mostly going to say this… JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE DOGGIE!!!!!

A Relaxed wedding at Holkham Hall in Norfolk

Hannah & Phil said their decision to work with me for their relaxed Holkham Hall wedding was an easy one. “We wanted a really relaxed atmosphere. Hannah at Lifeline Photography is the embodiment of an artistic person and yet she also controlled the guests when necessary”

Growing up in Norfolk, Hannah had dreamed of getting married at Holkham Hall. It’s just 20 minutes away from her family home. It wasn’t actually available as a wedding venue until recently though. Luckily Holkham Hall started offering weddings. Hannah and Phil booked it as their venue without even considering anywhere else!

The outfits and styling

Hannah looked beautiful in her Inbal Dror 14-11 gown from Morgan Davies. The back detailing made her think of biker jackets and an angel wing tattoo. Her maids were dressed in slinky two-pieces from Coast, while the guys all wore matching blue Ralph Lauren suits.

Hannah chose flowers from Constance Rose and I absolutely loved her seasonal flowers, with winter roses, berries and lots of seasonal foliage. The ceremony room was decorated with lots of greenery and sparkling fairy lights and there were beautiful floral ceiling decorations in the grand hall, where they enjoyed their wedding breakfast.

Personal touches

Hannah walked down the aisle with her father as the pianist played “Sweet Child of Mine” – a song close to her dad’s Guns N’Roses loving heart. It’s not only one of his favourite songs, but a track he would play when he was missing her if he had to be away when she was a little girl.

Family and friends helped to make the day really personal, with their DIY skills. There was a table plan made from a vintage mirror and tables were named after their favourite ski resorts. A floral backdrop was the perfect spot for guests to take Polaroid photos throughout the night. There was also a well-stocked candy table and a bespoke wedding postbox.

The catering

The wedding breakfast catering was by Andy Parle, one of Holkham’s approved caterers. “Everything was in season, from local farms. It was relaxed, wholesome food,” Hannah said. Even their food tasting was in Andy’s home kitchen. Beers and spirits were also from Norfolk brewery and distillery Adnams. Hannah’s dad made his speech before the starters so that he could relax throughout the meal, with speeches from Phil and his best man between courses.

The party

For their first dance, Hannah and Phil chose Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up”. After that, it was a non-stop party with guests dancing through the night to the MP3s. The party was fuelled by an espresso martini bar.

When the Holkham Hall wedding party stopped at midnight, everyone headed out in buses to the nearby Victoria Pub (part of the estate), which Hannah and Phil had hired out for an after-party. Starting married life as they meant to go on – partying hard and doing it in style!

Working with Hannah and Phil was wonderful. If you’re looking for a photographer for your Holkham Hall wedding, I’d love to chat so get in touch!
