I am so super excited. Today I popped into Holmfirth to meet Shannon, the lovely lady behind the new bridal boutique that launched at the weekend. Evelyn Taylor Bridal specialises in pre-loved and sample sale designer wedding dresses – for brides with impeccable taste but a budget that doesn’t quite meet the usual designer price tags. Shanoon herself bought a sample designer wedding dress and, with it sat in her wardrobe gathering dust, felt inspired to open the shop, named after her great grandmother, so that other brides to be could benefit from her eye for beautiful bargains. Not only does the boutique carry a fantastic stock of designer gowns, but I have to say Shannon has done a bloody brilliant job at turning the first floor shop into a gorgeous, welcoming space. Huge windows, immensely high ceilings, more chandeliers than you can shake a stick at, comfortable seating, epic mirrors, beautiful cabinets of accessories and vases of fresh flowers. Certainly knocks the socks off some of the (dare I say it – snobby, stuffy) stores I remember visiting with my sister when we shopped for her dream dress. Walking in is like a breath of fresh air – a pretty shop and a lovely lady with a friendly smile. In addition to the stunning range of dresses, Evelyn Taylor offers customisation too. Dresses can be altered to fit, obviously, but they can also be added to with a selection of awesome accessories such as boleros, sashes, lace trains and delicate strap additions to turn any dress you see on the rail into your perfect dress. Such a great idea. She’s also talking to various designers at the moment to source some wonderful shoes and other items. Oh, and Shannon’s mum makes a fantastic line of super cute bridesmaid dresses too – Juey’s Closet. They’re adorable. So yes. I’m excited. There’s a fantastic new bridal boutique in my area catering for my kind of bride – a woman with an eye for a bargain and a penchant for pretty frocks. We’re talking a fraction of the original price for these beautiful dresses. I fell in love with at least three while I was there and had to fight the urge to try every single one on, quite frankly. So go take a look.
