diy projects ahoy << real life >>
It’s happened. The pretty lights and festive stuff has been packed away and everything looks so very plain again. And, as is the case every few years, the result is an inappropriate burst of energy targeted at decorating. I say inappropriate, because it will inevitably wane long before I’ve actually achieved my goals. But I’ve started. Oh yes. I’ve wreaked havoc in other words. I’ve torn paper from walls and made lists of potential colours. It’s all go (for now) on project DIY. I’m tackling a bedroom (mine), a spare room that is used largely for laundry but has recently acquired a lovely new sofa bed, and a hallway that I actually started on last year and just sort of…forgot. There’s a new clock to go up and I have my sights on a new blind and bedding too. My boyfriend just tuts and rolls his eyes whenever he catches me at it. But hopefully he’ll agree it’s worth all of the mess in the end. Don’t expect an update in the immediate future though. These things take time. You can’t rush a girl attempting to do something she’s not terribly good at! And Murphy isn’t helping at all – he’s taken to climbing into bed and having a snooze while I’m hard at work, the cheeky little sod.
In other news…we’re romping through the lovely Fortnum & Mason coffees that Damian brought home over Christmas. I wasn’t a huge fan, bit dark roast for my taste on the whole, but I do like the pretty tins! Two years ago you’d hardly ever catch me turning to the dark side, I was a tea girl through and through, but my coffee boy has swayed me I must admit. He brings home some amazing sample roasts from time to time that blow my mind. I still make myself a brew in a teapot more often than I plunge the cafetiere, but I’m certainly not a hater anymore. And I’ve gone from trying to turn it into cake in a cup (milk and 2 sugars) to preferring it as it comes. Who’d have thunk it?
