Quarry Bank Mill Wedding << robyn + simon >>

Oh my word…I simply could not wait to share this wedding. It was so gorgeous. Seriously. Every last detail. And when I tell you that the venue belongs to the National Trust, you’ll know that it in itself offered some serious eye candy. You should totally check out Quarry Bank Mill and the gorgeous Styal Estate in Cheshire. Swoon! I was second shooting for Craige Barker who convinced the national Trust guys to remove one of the windows to get this incredible shot. Love it! Can’t wait to see the rest of his images from the day. In the meantime, here are mine starting with some of those incredible details I mentioned. Check out the seating plan made by the groom. They based their tables on Manhattan Island – Simon proposed in New York and the happy couple of returning there in 3 weeks to kick off their awesome sounding North American honeymoon adventure. Sweet!

The ceremony took place in the oh so quaint Norcliffe Chapel just a short walk from the mill through beautiful golden fields. Simon and his three groomsmen set about the task of marking the way. Impressively, Simon didn’t seem the slightest bit nervous although he did get rather emotional when the first wave of guests arrived. There were tears. It was really quite adorable.

Robyn’s maid of honour Tamalyn and two lovely bridesmaids arrived at the church before long and practiced their walk up the aisle whilst waiting for the gorgeous bride to be delivered by black cab decked out with flowers and ribbons for the occasion.

Outside the church there was a whole lot of hugging and well wishing before the wedding party led their guests over to the mill for a drinks reception in the meadow followed by the wedding breakfast which started at almost the exact moment that the weather broke. So glad there hadn’t been any rain up until then, although there were plenty of brollies on the scene just in case!

It wasn’t just the pretty details that made this wedding special, though. The lovely people played a huge part in making it such a pleasure to be part of. I can honestly say that the speeches were some of the funniest I have ever heard – particularly when Simon’s father produced a few blasts from the past to embarrass the poor groom. I think the bag of baby teeth was my favourite!

  3. Sarah Batten says:

Stunning images. These are testament that a professional photographer is worth the money – I personally can’t stand it when couples get their mates to take pics just because they’ve got a decent camera – it’s the eye of the photographer that matters! Money well spend on a keepsake that will last for the rest of your lives!
