twenty thirteen << real life >>

They say all good things come to an end. Well 2013 has been pretty darned good and lo and behold, it’s coming to an end. What do you know? I started thinking about what, aside from my awesome job which I love beyond words, has made 2013 so great and several things sprang to mind. Good times spent with my fella (including our first foreign trip together). Going “park” with my doggie. Discovering my taste in beer (after 6 years gluten free – I’m back on the real ale again and bloody loving it). Finally seeing the garden transformation get properly underway (lots of hard graft still to do – but it’s making sense at last). And discovering the joys of rainbow hair. Yes indeedy. It’s been a good year. And I discovered a whole host of piccies in my unedited back catalogue that sum it up so I thought I’d share some of my faves with you. They made me smile anyway…

Hopefully 2014 will be even better. Here’s to seeing out the old year with a glass of something delicious and welcoming in the new one with open arms and a sense of adventure. Hurrah! And whilst we’re on the subject of good things….I have to tell you about my Xmas pressies from the fella. First up a trip to New York in March (squeee – I’ve never been and am ridiculously excited) and secondly a selection of lovely local ales. I mention beer a fair bit so I figured why not recommend my faves. All of these have my seal of approval, but I was especially fond of the following:

3rd)  Mallinsons “Mosaic” – a hoppy little number and only 4.1% so counts as a session beer in my book. Hurrah!

2nd) Little Valley “Ptython IPA” – a lovely malty 6.0% double IPA with a well balanced hops. Yum!

1st) Summer Wine Brewery “Diablo” – a really pokey fella this one. Loaded with hops, citrussy and tropical at the same time. Delicious. More please!2013 round up beer of the month

We’re off to our regular real ale pub, The Grove Inn in Huddersfield, tonight to see in the New Year. With over 30 draft beers, fabulous staff and a great atmosphere it’s my favourite drinking establishment bar none. I suspect I’ll be hungover tomorrow…but co check back as I will be posting my favourite wedding shots of the year. It’s going to be tough picking htem them – I really have been spoilt rotten this year with so many gorgeous people and places to shoot. Hurrah!

Oh and here’s an extra little something – a look back at my year through Instagram (thanks to Flipagram for the vid).
