not so blue monday << real life >>
Yes – it’s late. Very late. I’ve had a busy few days and have been deep in wediting mode all evening. But I thought I’d share some of the things that have been making me smile this blue monday. First up – my friend Hayley. She’s awesome. I helped her move house this weekend. She has moved from the edge of Leeds over to Manchester. Her new place is AWESOME and has two super cute squirrels in the garden. Instant pets. Brilliant. Sadly I didn’t have a camera on me at the time otherwise I would share the cuteness. But alas, it was one of those rare occasions where I was unarmed. Instead, behold the decorating progress. By which I mean the patchwork of tester pots on two walls in the bedroom. I’ve opted for the two curve ball shades (I think – may change my mind again by the time I’m ready to make the purchase) so now it’s time to crack on with stripping the rest of the wallpaper (I’ll be so glad when the flowery texture is gone). Woo hoo!
In other household excitement news (well – I’m excited by it anyway) this beauty of a freestanding oak cabinet now has pride of place in the kitchen and I cannot stop admiring it. We were struggling for space so my mum had this made for us for Christmas and I cannot thank her enough. Exactly the right size, shape and style with awesome mismatched porcelain knobs. I love it!
I’ve also been smiling thanks to flowers. In addition to the ones adorning my coffee table, I’m eagerly awaiting the first buds of spring. There are little green leaves poking up all over the place as the bulbs surge ahead thanks to mild weather. I dread to think what the late fronts are going to do – but for now I’m enjoying the anticipation of the first winter acconites and snowdrops. Squee!
And look what arrived in the mail from Lou & Dunc! They’re so cute. I have managed to resit munching away on them for now but will be diving in this week for sure. Yay for awesome pressies form awesome people. Means the world to me!
Finally, a couple of snapshots from today. Murphy enjoying the sunshine on our doorstep (next to a crazy skull-a-like rock that my grandad found on a beach decades ago) and a good old mirror selfie. It occurred to me that my hair changes on such a regular basis that nobody ever really knows what to expect when they meet me or indeed see me again. So I’m going to make a point of showing the changing colours as and when they happen. Since this time last year I have erased all signs of ginger (I loved it but it was far too hard to maintain that lovely colour on my locks), grown out my trademark short fringe and become a bit of a rainbow hair obsessive. I’m currently sporting washed out pink and lilac over a blue base that refuses to budge. Expect to see even more colourful locks in the not too distant future though.
