Making Progress << chit chat >>
Last week I promised pictures of a freshly finished, shiny new living room. Sadly, it was not to be. I should have known, too. We’re still awaiting some shelves in the alcoves either side of the chimney to hold our music, film & book collections (shelves I haven’t even measured up for properly yet – oops) and one final piece of important furniture – a fab G-Plan sideboard that’s due to be delivered on Thursday. I’m ridiculously excited. Cannot wait to fill it with booze and vintage books. In the meantime, I’m happy to show off the newly fitted blinds (albeit in instagram form) and the wonderful sofa. About which I was (and still am) equally some might say over-excited. I blummin’ love it. LOVE it. Style and comfort in perfect harmony. It is my ideal sofa. We found it at Made Good in Slaithwaite, a lovely dealer specialising in post war Danish furniture. A shop I could spend a small fortune in very easily. Handily (or dangerously, depending on how you look at it) it’s really near my new favourite Saturday morning destination – The Handmade Bakery cooperative on the canal side in Slaithwaite. Oh my word, everything they make is incredibly delicious. And (shock horror) doesn’t make me ill. I think I’ve mentioned before that I have an acute gluten intolerance so usually avoid all wheat, rye and barley. But I’ve found that I can eat their lovely bread and their uh-mazing croissants without any ill effects. My life has gotten about a bazillion times better as a result. I am one happy lady.
That (*points up*) is my fella, by the way. He’s awesome. His patience when I babble on about weddings (amongst other things) is astounding. He was driving his work’s van to pick up the sofa when I took these pics and I (in my excitement) got a bit carried away documenting the moment. Ahem. I don’t think he’ll mind me sharing them though. He’s nice like that. And he knows that I am making an effort to shoot more personal stuff this year. Any time the urge takes me (usually when the sun is shining) I’m gonna be wielding my camera and shooting whatever is there – which more often than not is him, I’m happy to say.
Aside from new furniture excitement my week has been fairly quiet, really. Apart from that day when all of the snow fell out of the sky again so I was stuck indoors, the following snow free afternoon that saw me get a bit axe happy and chop more firewood than we have space to store, the completion of level one of the Thirty Day Shred (10 days of what would appear to have been easy peasy workouts in comparison to the 10 days of level two I have ahead – that Jillian Michaels is clearly evil) and, well, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS. Ahem. Did I shout that? Sorry. But it was pretty blummin’ amazing. I’m in London staying with a good friend for her birthday at the mo and on Sunday we popped along to Her Majesty’s Theatre to see the first of four exclusive launch events for the new album. Needless to say, the show was outrageously good. Very much looking forward to receiving my copy of the album now. Tis a good’un. There are sneak, errr, the audio equivalent of peek (?) tracks here and here.

The house is looking good! We’ve had no snow. Very disappointing x
