london & gateshead << real life >>
March! Gotta love it. For starters, people buy me presents and give me cake. What’s not to like about that? But also…that whole SPRING thing starts to happen and I bloody love that. This past weekend was a prime example. Strolling around London town without my coat on, basking in the warm (yes – actually warm) sunshine and giving some serious thought to risking bare legs in the very near future. It was heavenly. And very conducive to drinking lovely beer. Ahem. My recent jaunt to the big smoke involved a (somewhat shambolic) pub crawl which started near Kings Cross and ended on the Strand. Well done to the Queens Head for being my first choice of the day and keeping us reasonably happy for several drinkies (even though the chap behind the bar was a bit rude, particularly when he scowled at us all and slammed down a table reserved sign three and a half hours ahead of said booking making our table of 15 feel like we weren’t welcome) and a big thumbs up to the charming Retro Bar for ending our evening on a massive rainbow high.
Another highlight of the week for me was spending some time with my nephews. Flipping crikey they are cute. The big one (Lucas – 4 next month) stole my heart years ago and continues to charm me every second that I spend with him. He’s currently obsessed with stacking cups and toppling dominoes. He’s camp, he’s cheeky, he’s got a fab singing voice and he’s a big fan of ice cream – Lucas is a DUDE. The little one (Jacob – 14 months) is also developing his own proper little personality now too. He’s more of a bruiser though, with a serious expression most of the time and an appetite for destruction. The boy loves to eat. Literally anything and everything. He’s an eating machine. And a cute one at that. Can’t wait to go back up to hang out with the boys again next month. They’re awesome. And my sister is pretty cool too!
