woodland tipi wedding << kate + llord >>
Almost a year ago now I headed up to Scotland to meet Kate and Lloyd for a gorgeous sunny e-shoot at Barns Ness lighthouse. Less then six months later we met again the evening before their wedding in the grounds of a gorgeous house that Lloyd’s parents had rented for the long weekend. Kate and the girls were busy making the hand stamped rustic seating plan whilst Lloyd and the boys prepared various games ready for the big day. The atmosphere was relaxed, fun, very holiday like. I felt at home. And then the next day, this rural Berkshire retreat sprang to life as a bespoke wedding venue. Guests walked through a ribbon adorned arbor to the beautiful woodland clearing where a pretty floral arch marked the location of their humanist ceremony. Afterwards, once the words were spoken, the candles lit and the bubbles blown, everybody continued through the woods into the gorgeous gardens of the house where huge tipis were set up for the reception, along with mini tipis for the children and various outdoor games to keep everybody entertained. The sun shone, the bubbly flowed and the trampoline bounced. A scrumptious hog roast was followed by an incredible naked wedding cake (delicious doesn’t even cover it) and then the touching speeches, with a wonderful tawny port toast courtesy of Kate’s Dad (good choice, Sir). And then came the dancing, the drinking, the giggling and the hardcore merry-making. A magical day followed by a glorious star filled night. Kate and Lloyd’s wedding was one of my favourites last year so I was chuffed to bits when it was featured on the wonderful b.loved blog recently. I can’t wait to catch up with this lovely pair later in the year and meet the mini human that they will soon be bringing into the world. Hurrah!
