Hi… << chit chat >>

Welcome to the blogtastic world of LifeLine Photography. I’m Hannah. The smiley face behind the lens. The tattooed adventurer at the heart of the blog. I’m new to the world professional photography, though not new to the medium of photography itself by any means. I dabbled in modelling before I went to university in fact and I’ve been toting a camera everywhere with me for as long as I can remember. I was always that one at parties snapping the action and ensuring that everyone remembered what went on even if their personal memories of events were rather hazy. Snap, snap, snap. Ah…those were the days.

For some reason it never occurred to me to take up photography as a career back then. Instead, I spent a decade in the family business, retail packaging. Not very glamorous, I’ll grant you, and certainly not quirky, but I met a whole lot of lovely creative people and had a positive impact on my Dad’s working life so I can’t complain. But it wasn’t my dream job. I left the packaging world for a brief foray into fashion. It was a fabulous experience which again introduced me to a number of wonderfully creative people. People who were doing what they were passionate about for a living. It was through them that I realised I needed to make some changes in my life. Because I wanted in. Not into fashion. Not into any specific creative role, in fact. No. What I wanted “into” was that whole doing what you love and loving what you do thing. Giving your passion a central role in your life. I decided it was time to be myself. To let the photographer out full time instead of saving her for evenings and weekends.

Hannah the photographer, then… I’m a self-taught. A natural, I believe they call it. I bought my first DSLR in my mid twenties and experimented until I’d got the hang of all the technical gubbins. For years people told me I had a good eye, they even encouraged me to consider photography as a career, but I said I wanted to keep my little hobby “just for me”. Of course secretly I didn’t mean that at all…I just wasn’t ready to admit it yet. I have my involvement with flickr and in particular the 365 project to thank for changing all that. I finally realised that my little hobby had developed into a major passion for portraiture. And my increasing demand as a wedding and baby photographer for friends and acquaintances got me thinking that maybe it could be more than just a passion. I started to believe that perhaps photography is something that I was born to do.

So, here I am. A newbie on the pro photographer circuit. An eager artist with a loaded weapon. But don’t let my lack of experience in this business put you off. Heavens no. You see, I know how to handle this weapon of mine. And what’s more, I bring something fresh and new to this whole photography lark. I bring me. My passion, my eye and my determination to capture the loveliness of the world in pretty pictures. Because that’s what it’s all about. Pretty pictures. My quirky take on your world. Bringing out the character, the emotion and the beautiful details as I see them. A dollop of fun mixed with a huge sprinkle of romance and nostalgia. Only better. You’ll see…

Right now, I’m working on my website and taking some time out to galavant around the globe. I’ll be sharing a few of my adventures here, along with lots of other chit chat and heaps of pretty pictures. Check back regularly for info on my latest shoots and any other juicy gossip. If you fancy hiring me, or want to discuss a project of any sort, just get in touch. I’m always happy to discuss ideas and happier still to turn them into reality.
