half gallathon << real life >>

Ever heard of the Half Gallathon? Want to know what it’s all about? Well let me tell you… It’s a charity event in aid of Weston Park & Ashgate Hospice, hosted by the Lathkill Hotel in Over Haddon just outside of Bakewell. With gorgeous views over Lathkill Dale at the heart of the Peak District, surrounded by nature and beauty, men and women of all ages gather to take part in this annual event. A charity drinking race. Yep. You read that right. A drinking race. Four pints of ale and four circuits of the pub. Running and drinking. A vomit inducing combination for many. But a whole heap of fun!

The jolly boys haven’t entered for a couple of years though due to family commitments…but we decided to give it a go this year. Well I say we…Damian did. I joined him in fancy dress and drank several beers but I didn’t fancy the running. I am rather tempted to next year though. Now that I know a woman has never completed it. I do like a challenge! I’m certainly keen to take part in one of the team relay races. Ladies teams can opt for glasses of pimms, but I’m more of a pints of ale kind of girl to be fair.half gallothon charity beer race in lathkill daleAside from the race itself, the weekend was fantastic. Nice weather and glorious scenery, a lovely remote camp site, good food from the BBQ and several delicious ales…and a breakfast of champions in Matlock on the Sunday. Hurrah. Making the most of a wedding free weekend for sure.half gallothon charity beer race in lathkill dalehalf gallothon charity beer race in lathkill dalehalf gallothon charity beer race in lathkill daletic toc ithe lifeline photography campervan n lathkill dalehalf gallothon charity beer race in lathkill dale
