Competition Time < < chit chat > >

Attention brides and grooms (and anyone who knows any soon to be brides and grooms)…I would like to draw your attention to two brilliant competitions. You can win free wedding photography (wow) and stationery for your wedding (double wow) and all you have to do is leave a comment on the relevant blog posts. Awesome, huh?

Prizes:

A wedding photography package worth £600^

A wedding stationery package (invites/RSVPs/thank yous etc) worth £150^^

How it works:

Monty Manatee Wedding Stationery Designs and Lifeline Photography have teamed up to offer two competitions that will run concurrently.

The questions you need to answer are:

What is the funniest song to have as a first dance?
What is the quirkiest proposal story you have heard?

All you need to do is leave your answer to the question as a comment on the relevant blog posts.

Your funniest song answers need to be left on the Monty Manatee Blog.

Your quirkiest proposal story answers need to be left on this blog post. Down there *points at the comments box* at the bottom of the post. Where it says leave a reply. Go on. You can do it.

The two competitions are open now and will run until the end of the month. At noon on 1st December two lucky winners will be picked by a panel of insane judges (Sara from Monty Manatee, Hannah (that’s me) and a selection of our nearest and dearest).

BUT – Don’t worry if you don’t win, because everyone who enters will be entitled to a 10% discount on any Monty Manatee stationery orders placed before Christmas and a whopping 20% discount on any of my photography packages (again if booked before Christmas).

Subscribe to both blogs for progress updates on the competitions and to check out the other entries. No limit to the number of answers you can give so get thinking!

COMMENTs:

  1. Sara says:

A friend of mine was taken from Cornwall to Paris blindfolded. When the blindfold was taken off at the top of the Eiffel tower she was proposed to!

  2. nikki roberts says:

i think the silliest song would be ‘thriller’ by michael jackson,i’ve seen a couple of people have this as their first dance and thought it was hilarious, totally not my kind of thing and how does ‘thriller’ have anything to do with a wedding??
a friend of a friend proposed when they were on a day out in alton towers, not my idea of a romantic proposal but apparently they go there all the time so was appropriate for them which i suppose is all that matters in the end.

  3. Lisa Morrow says:

My friend’s married name is ‘Coke’. Mr and Mrs Coke’s first dance was the Hokey Cokey – brilliant!

Another friend of mine’s boyfriend dressed up as Santa Claus, hid up their chimney for nearly two hours, then appeared in their living room in a puff of soot and proposed. She got a huge fright, but they both laugh about it now!

  4. […] can also win £600 of wedding photography if you go here and answer the question: what is the quirkiest proposal story you have […]

  5. Philippa says:

The quirkiest wedding proposal I know about was a couple I met scuba diving – scuba diving was their “thing” and he proposed underwater!

On a private dive, with only a guide (who doubled up as a photographer for them to capture the moment underwater) surrounded by hundreds of fish, stunning corals, turtles and the deep blue sea, he pulled out a sign he had had made in waterproof fabric saying “Will you marry me?”. Of course she said “yes” and after an emotional underwater kiss and cuddle, they surfaced and the crew on the boat had arranged a display of fresh fruit cut into flowers, and at the centre of the display was the ring he had chosen. Imagine sailing off into the sunset after that?!?!?

  6. Kelly says:

One of the guys I work with proposed with the aid of a Bear Factory teddy with a pre-recorded message. He didn’t just record “Will you marry me?” on it, but made up a whole story about how his “friend” had something he wanted to ask, but before he did he wanted her to do something. The bear talked her through a mini treasure hunt to find her ring and while she was distracted with that he got down on one knee behind her and popped the question when she turned round with the ring in her hand. Very very sweet!

  7. Laura says:

I saw this proposal with my actual eyes and it has stuck in my memory for many reasons…
About 6 years ago me and my To Be were living in London. We were skint and yet we decided to splash out on tickets to see the reggae legend Alton Ellis at the Jazz Cafe in Camden on a rainy Thursday night ….mainly because Alton Ellis sings ‘our song’ (its called Willow Tree and it makes my heart go bumpity bump!) and we were feeling romantic.
About half way though the gig Alton and his band struck up a song called “La la means I love you” when a guy who I had noticed earlier (mainly because he was VERY handsome, far too well dressed and had been pacing the floor all night) got down on one knee, drew a tiny ring box from his pocket and proposed to the woman he was with. Amazingly Alton noticed and stopped the show, congratulated them and asked the crowd to clear the dancefloor. He then started the song from the top and the couple slow danced in the middle of the floor whilst we all clapped and cheered!
About 3 songs later ‘our song’ came on and my other half looked at me in utter desperation and said ‘I can’t follow that….I don’t think we can ever get married now!’
After 6 (mostly!) happy years he obviously reconsidered his decision and proposed…at home….in a typically very sweet, understated way…and our first dance will definitely be Willow Tree and we hope we look a fraction as happy as that couple did on that amazing night 6 years ago.

  8. Carol says:

I think the most beautiful proposals are the least expected – like when the girl proposes to the guy. I don’t see why it should always be his job to get down on one knee, and it doesn’t have to just be on a leap year!
My favourite example is actually a celebrity proposal – when Pink proposed to her now husband. They had met at a motocross meet (her husband is a motocross racer) and she therefore thought it would be right to pop the question at one. While he was racing she was holding the pit board and a marker – so she wrote the proposal on it and held it up one one of the laps. On the next lap she wrote “I’m serious” and he ditched the race to accept her proposal! I’m not usually one for public proposals but this I thought was really sweet, mainly because it was her doing the proposing, not the guy, in such an unconventional way.

  9. Hannah says:

Congratulations go to KELLY for this winning entry. The idea of the bear s super cute but the mini treasure hunt idea really put the icing on the cake. So adorable! Well done that boy…and well done you for making me smile with this lovely story! x

  10. Hannah says:

Oh crikey, what a fab story. I’d have been worried about causing an accident though. Tee hee! x

  11. Hannah says:

SWEET! Reading this brought a tear to my eye. Such a cute story. I have to say, I really like that your other half did it his way. That’s what it’s all about after all. You guys, being true to yourselves. I bet you will look the epitome of romance when you dance together to Willow Tree. How could you not? x

  12. Hannah says:

Aww. That must have been such a beautiful moment. I bet it was nerve wracking though leading up to it though. Crikey. So glad she said yes! x

  13. Hannah says:

Now that is a committed chap. Two hours. My word. I bet her face was an absolute picture. Tee hee! x

  14. Hannah says:

Aww, it totally is important that the situation is appropriate to the couple. It’s the everyday stuff that is the most romantic, really. That’s what makes you you. If you know what I mean. So proposing at Alton Towers, if it has meaning, is adorable. Certainly unforgetable! x
