come rain or shine << chit chat >>
If there’s one thing that I can safely say about the British weather, it’s that it is unpredictable. So far today I’ve seen heavy cloud, sunshine and hail over the moors through my office window. Doesn’t matter what time of year it is, you just never really know what you’re going to get. I know most people say they want a sunny wedding – but actually, I’m not so keen. Certainly not in the summer. Harsh overhead sun, shiny faces, squinting eyes, dark shadows and, let’s face it, sweaty pits. No thank you. I do love golden hour sunshine (the hour or so before sunset when the sun sits low in the sky casting gorgeous golden light on everything it touches – that’s pretty magical). But during the day I think bright sunshine is over rated. And if I had a penny for every time I heard someone say “so long as it doesn’t rain it’ll be alright” I’d be a wealthy woman. But again, I disagree. I don’t think rain really matters. In fact, a splash of water from the sky can be a pretty awesome addition to your wedding day. They say it’s good luck, for starters. Even more so if you see a rainbow. And there’s the possibility of lovely reflections from puddles and surface water. Ok… so that outdoor ceremony isn’t quite so appealing (but it is definitely still an option) and you might want to wear wellies if we’re going to walk anywhere interesting, but so long as you have a brolly or two, you’ll be fine. I bloody love a good brolly!
And, you know what, they come in useful for hot summer weddings too providing some much needed shade! Seriously. Brollies. They’re awesome!
