If there’s one type of wedding I really love, it’s a homespun tipi wedding. The sort of wedding where the couples personalities shine through all of the pretty little details and thoughtful touches. A relaxed, fun wedding that is all about celebrating love and friendship with a group of awesome people. And Rachel & Dave pulled off one hell of an epic DIY tipi wedding last summer in the beautiful hills just outside of Lancaster. Their tipi wedding was held at Capernwray House, Dave’s mum’s beautiful B&B. That wasn’t the only family connection either because Rachel’s gorgeous bespoke beaded dress and her maids dresses were all made by her Aunt, the wonderful lady behind Incandescence Couture. Then there was the immense cake table full of home made treats including a huge rice crispy cake (it was taller than me, I swear) and an incredible carrot cake decorated to look exactly like Rachel & Dave’s recently renovated cottage – their labour of love. Oh and Rachel’s Aunt conducted the ceremony too. And there was a very popular splat the rat game in honour of Rachel’s pest controlling dad. And her brother supplied the gorgeous planters filled with herbs that served as table numbers. I could go on. Basically, if there was a pretty little detail at this wedding, Rachel & Dave and their lovely family and friends had something to do with it. Which is why the whole day felt so very special. From the bit where we popped home to put the chickens to bed through the epic game of rounders to the hot air balloons on the horizon at sunset that made everyone whoop and holler. Every single part of this magical day felt perfect to me and if I could do it all again tomorrow I would not hesitate. Time spent with these guys is guaranteed to make anyone smile, for sure!
