Hand Crafted Coffee Roastery Wedding << Sam + Rich >>

This awesome coffee roastery wedding back in May last year was pretty special for me for a number of reasons. Firstly, I consider myself very lucky to be able to call Sam & Rich friends. They are so bloody lovely, I genuinely feel a bit giddy when I get to hang out with them. Although that could be because we inevitably drink a fair bit of tasty beer together. Because beer is how we met. Rich is the graphic design genius behind Magic Rock Brewing. My local and I dare say favourite craft brewery. He met my partner, Damian, when they collaborated on a rather tasty coffee beer called Common Grounds. And since then they have become mates. Rich bribed Sam into coming out for a stroll and a pint with us on the premise that she’d get to meet some dogs (which wasn’t strictly true as we left the hounds at home that day). We chatted about their wedding plans. And everything just fell into place.

You see, the second reason that this wedding was so special for me is the location. This was on my turf. Near enough in my back garden. After their Marsden Mechanics ceremony (complete with gratuitous bum fondle where most people have a first kiss and so much laughter my cheeks were aching before they said their I dos), Sam & Rich hopped into a vintage mini and we headed out onto Marsden Moor for some snuggle time (them not me) and piccies and then on to the Dark Woods Coffee Roastery (yep, my boyfriend’s coffee roastery aka “the mill”) for a super fun DIY reception with Magic Rock beers, top notch speeches (split equally between the ladies and the fellas, just as it should be), amazing food courtesy of Grub & Grog, live music from Uncle Len & Cousin Sarah (they sounded amazing) and some serious shape pulling thanks to an epic Jason Bankhead DJ set. It was amazing to see the mill full of so many joy filled faces AND I got to stay late and dance until the early hours. Huzzah!

The third reason that this wedding was so special is one that Rich pointed out to me a couple of days before the big event. Everyone involved in the wedding Sam & Rich considered a friend. From start to finish, they spent their wedding day with their mates. The beer, the food, the car, the music the photography – all came from people Rich and Sam already knew. Even the AMAZING cake (no really, it blew my tiny little cake loving mind it was so creative and well crafted). Friendly faces every where they looked. As a result, this DIY wedding had the most incredible intimate feel. And I am so glad I got to be a part of it.
